11 July 10.00PM - Francesca Martinez - What the **** is normal?
We are delighted to announce that Francesca Martinez, highly acclaimed tv personality, comedian, author and disability rights activist will be performing in Gibraltar on the 11th July 2014 as part of “Gibraltar Pride 2014”. Francesca will be bringing to Gibraltar her well known comedy show “What The **** Is Normal?!” which will take place at 22:00 in the Aurora Ballroom onboard the Sunborn Hotel.
The Government of Gibraltar through the respective Ministries are sponsoring the show, and the management of Sunborn have kindly offered to Gibraltar Pride 2014 the grand facilities in which to host the event.
As a result of this tickets will be free and further information will be made available over the forthcoming weeks, with priority being given to Pride Parade participants.
Francesca Martinez who has cerebral palsy but prefers to describe herself as "wobbly" is best known for her stand up comedy work and acting. She has had many sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival and internationally, including the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Perth Festival, and the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. In 2013 she completed a 68-date UK tour and has had off-West End London runs.
Before becoming a comedian, Martinez appeared in the BBC children's drama series Grange Hill for several years, and has acted in other drama series such as Holby City. She has also appeared as a guest on The Frank Skinner Show, and in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's comedy series Extras. In more recent times she has been guest on TV shows such as ITV’s Loose Women, The Jonathan Ross Show on ITVE and RTÉ's The Saturday Night Show with Brendan O'Connor.
In April 2008, Martinez made global headlines when (live on Channel 4 News) she became the first Olympic torch bearer to pull out of the London relay in protest over China’s treatment of Tibet.
